71st BPSC Smart Strategy (Prelims + Mains)

71st BPSC Smart Strategy (Prelims + Mains)

"Simple plan. Big result."

01. Start with Syllabus
Download and write the GS1, GS2 + Essay syllabus by hand.
Highlight words like "Freedom Struggle", "Inclusive Growth".
Stick it on your wall – see it daily!

02. Choose Optional Smartly

  • If your graduation subject is strong, use that.

  • If not, pick a subject related to GS (like History, Geography, Sociology). Saves time.

03. Use PYQs Like a Map
Collect last 10 years’ Pre + Mains papers.
Group them by topic (e.g., 1857, Champaran, Gandhi).
You’ll see questions repeat – use that to your benefit.

04. Make Easy, Useful Notes
Make short notes using 2-3 good sources (like Vision, NCERT, Coaching).
Use clear headings: Definition, Data, Example, Bihar Point, Conclusion.

05. Current Affairs – 1.5 Years
Read 1 newspaper daily (Hindu/IE or Jagran).
Add Vision CA + Yojana/Kurukshetra.
Keep notes topic-wise (GS1-2-3) + Bihar facts.

06. Practice Essay Weekly
Write 1 essay/week based on big themes (Society, Economy, Science...).
Use quotes, examples, current events.
Follow this: Intro → Main Part → Bihar link → Conclusion.

07. Write 2 Answers Daily
Write 2 GS answers daily.
Use this format: Intro – Fact – Analysis – Suggestion – Bihar Link.

08. Don’t Ignore DI (72 Marks!)
Solve past 10 years’ DI questions.
If maths is weak, revise Class 10 basics (RS Aggarwal, NCERT).

09. Keep Booklist Short
Max 2 sources/topic.
Example:

  • Polity → Laxmikant + PYQs

  • Economy → Mrunal + Notes

  • History → Spectrum + Notes

10. Prepare Pre + Mains Together
Don’t study them separately.
Use same notes for both.
MCQs for Pre, answers for Mains.

11. Mocks + Revision Plan

  • Prelims: Full mocks 45 days before.

  • Mains: 1 test/week.

  • Current: Revise monthly + crash revision before Mains.

12. Get Interview-Ready Early
Start a small file: Resume, Bihar issues, optional topics.
Read India Year Book + Bihar Economic Survey summary.

13. Mindset = 80/20 Rule
Spend 80% time revising, 20% learning new.
Use Sunday for full revision + mock review.
Stay consistent. Watch topper talks for motivation.
